CACB's 9th Annual Diabetes Conference will provide a clinical and didactic program with opportunities to interact with experts who care for our most complex patients.  

 

Invited guest speakers will share innovative, researched and applied techniques leaving the participants with a new toolbox for care and increased perspectives gleamed from an enriched knowledge base.

 

3-day event includes:

  • Education for diabetes educators with continue education units
  • Legislative advocacy
  • Promotion of our profession through collaboration and networking
  • Fun, reconnection with old friends, connection to new friends and emotional renewal

Target Audience:
This conference will benefit health care professionals who work with patients with diabetes: RNs, RDs, Pharmacists, MDs, PAs, NPs, exercise physiologists, physical therapists, psychologists, social workers and other health care providers.

Kim Higgins California Diabetes Educator Of The Year Award kimhigginspic

Kim Higgins, MSN, RN, CDE exemplified the qualities of an ideal certified diabetes educator and mentor.  Her skill and knowledge were an inspiration to all the lives that she touched.  She greeted everyone with warmth and a smile.  Whether she was teaching a class, lobbying lawmakers, or leading various local, state, or national diabetes groups, Kim had a passionate commitment to improve the lives of people with diabetes. 

The California Coordinating Body of the American Association of Diabetes Educators will grant the first Kim Higgins California Diabetes Educator Of The Year Award in 2017.  This award will be given annually to the California/Nevada diabetes educator that best exemplifies the qualities and ideals of Kim Higgins in their commitment to helping people with diabetes.  The California Coordinating Body believes that this award will help develop responsible solutions and inspire a new generation of innovation in diabetes education and service.

The award consists of one complimentary registration to the California AADE annual conference, overnight lodging for the conference dates only and a Kim Higgins California Diabetes Educator Of The Year recognition plaque.
